According to the Boy Genius Report, RIM is crackin’ away at integrating full Flash and Silverlight support into their browser.
Yeah, we’re going to go ahead and file this one under “Don’t hold your breath”, with plans to dust it off and start getting excited in a year or so. We’re not saying we doubt BG’s sources; when it comes to BlackBerry, Boy Genius has things locked down. Thing is, RIM’s not exactly known for their browser-making abilities. Getting Flash and Silverlight up and running efficiently on BlackBerry is going to require a good amount of effort from both Adobe and Microsoft, and a fairly beasty piece of hardware to run it on. The source says to keep an eye out next summer - we’d guess it’d come closer to the 2010 Holiday season, at the earliest. |

Not to be outdone by TeleNav, pocket-lint is reporting that TomTom will be coming to Android in the near future.
“We cannot ignore such a successful platform as Android. HTC is an important partner of ours and Android is becoming increasingly important too.”
“I do not question the opportunity that RIM might offer but we know that a satnav device needs to have a large touchscreen and voice commands to be able to work for turn-by-turn navigation. We come from a PDA background and we know what will work.”
Large touchscreens and voice commands you say? Yeah, the G1 and myTouch 3G have both of those. |
