Cricket Wireless has announced that it is now offering the Nokia 3606 ultra thin flip styled handset. The 3G capable 3606 covers basic messaging and calling functionality and also offers convenient music playback, thanks to its built-in music player and external playback keys. Bluetooth stereo connectivity is also on-board for wireless listening.

A photo of what appears to be a Sprint inventory plan hints that the unannounced Samsung SCH-M810 Instinct Mini is coming soon in your choice of graphite or bronze color schemes. A red variant of the LG Lotus is also mentioned, with both phones expected to be available within the next few days.

Peek, creator of the unique Peek Classic mobile e-mail device, has announced its newest mobile messaging device, the Peek Pronto. The Pronto features a 2.5-inch QVGA (240x320 pixels) screen, 8MB of internal memory, and promises an average battery lifespan of two to three days. At 4-inches tall, 2.7-inches wide, and less than a half-inch thick, the Pronto delivers its messaging service in a sleek form-factor.

The 2009 edition of the Google Summer of Code projects has been announced. We appreciate Google's continued support of free software and for funding numerous open source projects, and will apply certainly for this years edition. It will be the fifth edition of this open source event, and when accepted we will have been part equal times...we are really looking forward to welcome another group of contributors with fresh ideas.
